It's the rule that you live by and die for
It’s the one thing you cannot deny
Even though you don't know what the price is
It is justified
So much more that you've got now to fight for
But it still doesn't change who you are
There is no fear you'll ever give in to
You're untouchable [/center]
The Basics
Name: Taj Azter Merripen
Nickname(s): Tam, Tammy (he really hates Tammy; it's what his mother would sometimes call him)
Age: 24
Birthday: March 15th
Current job: Accountant; it’s boring, but it’s easy and doesn’t require as much interaction other jobs do
Race: Dragon Shifter, fae-blooded
Special abilities: His major ability is the ability to phase. He can turn himself insubstantial; objects and people go right through him. His minor ability is the ability to camouflage. He can only do it in low light areas; any movement also will dispel the camouflage.
Court: N/A
Hair: Dirty blonde
Eyes: Blue
Physical Looks: Taj is in a way very plain and that mostly stems from how he presents himself. He doesn’t have a bold stride but a casual walk. He prefers to wear comfortable clothing and brand names make no difference to him. Taj is of an average height and build, which contribute to his rather plain appearance. His hair is very short as it’s very easy to maintain that way. Taj has a very slight tan but is mostly considered pale. Though his eyes are blue, different lights reflect them differently and at times they almost appear hazel. His eyes aren’t very inviting as he’s not a warm person. Taj’s entire demeanor is standoffish.
Taj is a dragon shifter, specifically one of the longer types. While he has the potential to grow to 30 feet, he’s only 17 feet currently. His wingspan when shifted is 10 feet. As far as colors go, he’s mainly black. Taj’s spikes are a dark purple and his underside is white-ish silver. As a dragon, his eyes also turn golden.
Character rep: Jensen Ackles
Mentality
Attitude: Taj likes to be in control and hates taking orders. Taj has a good grip on his emotions, and isn’t easily angered. However, he does love to make others angry; it amuses him greatly. Taj is a cold person, and makes sure everyone knows he has no interest in socializing. He’ll interact with people when he has to, but prefers to be alone. He doesn’t talk much and when he does, he’s usually rude and short. Taj also has a strong survival instinct, which is partly why he’s neutral. Why fight when you’re more likely to live longer by staying out of the way? Taj also hates to be backed into a corner about something and reacts violently when pushed.
Goals: None except staying alive

History:
First, there is the matter of the fae blood. Taj’s fae blood is from roughly 15 generations ago. Taj doesn’t know much, just that the guy was most likely a dark fae. The woman, Lacus Beckering, had a son who also married. It was his daughter that married a dragon shifter, which is where Taj gets his shifting abilities from. In the 15 generations of fae-blooded humans, only a relatively small amount ever was affected by the blood. Taj is roughly the 4th to have shown the phasing capabilities.
Despite his personality, Taj had a relatively normal and happy upbringing. He was born on March 15th to Riley Merripen (dragon shifter and fae blooded) and Araceli Carpathia (normal). Their house was out in the country of Ireland and not in the city. The Merripens had quite a bit of land and raised horses there, which is how Taj learned how to ride. The land had been in the family for generations; it provided a large flying space away from prying eyes, which is what the family of dragon shifters needed and wanted.
Taj grew up knowing he had fae blood, but not whether he would be affected. His early training focused on the dragon abilities he’d inherited from his dad. Once it became apparent he did have the phasing abilities, the Merripens found a family friend to teach him how to control his powers. During the training, the mentor stressed how important it was to hide both his phasing and shifting abilities. Taj’s mentor also made sure Taj knew exactly where he was weak. Because the phasing was a conscious ability, the mentor emphasized improving reflexes and phasing speed. Taj also learned how to shoot and fight with a sword from him.
However, Taj hated the country life; the only pro he saw was the flying space and the horses. Growing up, he only wished to get away from the “boring” life as he saw it. His parents would rather have him go to some vocational school and then live at home; instead he applied himself to his studies and made sure he was ready for the Leaving Certificate Examination. His mentor supported him and told Taj he’d help him out where the state couldn’t, should he get into the school he wanted. Taj did and graduated not too long ago, becoming an accountant. Taj saw the career as something boring which he had tried to avoid, yet the tasks came easily to him. It also suited his personality as he didn’t have to interact with others as much as some other careers.
At the time of The Collapse, Taj was at his apartment in Dublin. He normally went out but had brought home some work to do. The first and only time he truly appreciated his job. Taj took one look at the commotion and it sent his survival instinct into overdrive. After that initial night, whenever Taj needed to go out, he went out in phase mode for short trips. The whole world had gone to hell, and so work was pretty much out of the question. In fact, it was only recently that the company he had worked for adjusted to the new times. He also doesn’t feel the need to stay in phase mode anymore while out.
Taj stayed out of the fighting when it was humans and light against dark. Now that the fae know their home, Faerie, is dying and the issue is more complicated, Taj is more convinced than ever to stay out of it.

Sample RP:
Taj was seriously regretting letting the man see him shift. Well, “let” wasn’t the right word. The man had caught him flying last week and hadn’t stopped bothering him since. The guy – what was his name again? Taj couldn’t recall, nor did he much care. He only knew that if the guy didn’t leave him alone and stop jabbering on and on about how Taj just had to join the cause and help exterminate the faes, Taj would..well, he didn’t know what he’d do, but the guy was getting on his last nerve. While Taj held no love for the fae, he had no interest in fighting against them. It had nothing to do with his fae blood but the fact he liked being alive, thank you very much. Getting involved with the fae, with or against, was a bad idea.
“ – I’ll tell!”
Taj narrowed his eyes as he caught the last part of the man’s rant. “I’m sorry, but I think I misheard. Could you pretty please repeat that last bit?”
The man, clearly nervous, stammered, “I said I’ll tell what you can do! I have friends; you wouldn’t be able to say no to them!”
“That so?” Taj said lowly. ’Threatening me is a bad idea, buddy. A real bad idea…’ Taj then sighed, acting as if was giving it some deep thought. “How about I think about it some more? In the meantime, let’s take a walk and you can give me some of the finer details. This place feels a bit too open for my liking.” Taj turned and started walking.
The man, clearly relieved, nodded his head and followed Taj. “Well, for starters…”
(7 minutes later)
The man had just finished telling Taj about the “cause” as he put it, not paying attention to where he was walking. “So, do y-“. What followed was a series of sounds so disgusting Taj shuddered. ’Thank goodness for his phasing ability! He’d been using since he suggested the walk; he knew there were shades a few minutes away. He hated and feared the shades, but knew they could be useful in dealing with the pest. Still, looking at what was left of the guy made him queasy.’
“Nasty way to go bud, but I don’t like people thinking they can back me into a corner.” Taj then went back the way they had come, whistling.
