We must be the change we wish to see.
The Basics Name: Lillith Morgan Nickname(s): none Age: 25 Birthday: September 15 Current job: bookstore owner
Race: fae-blooded human Special abilities: Primary ability: telekinesis Secondary ability: none Court: n/a
Hair: blonde Eyes: hazel Physical Looks: Lillith would never called herself a beauty, but she does take care of herself. Mostly she prefers to wear jeans and a shirt, but on special occasions Lillith likes to dress up, usually wearing some form of dressy pant/top combo. Depending on the time of the year, her blonde hair ranges from short to medium-long (in winter she likes to keep her hair longer). At five foot nothing she’s a bit on the short side, which doesn’t bother her at all unless someone brings it up. She does have a few freckles on her face… mostly gathered on her nose. That’s pretty much the only prominent feature on her body, other than a few scars on her arms. No tattoos, though her ears are pierced once on each ear. Character rep: LeAnn Rimes
Mentality
Attitude: Lillith is definitely a hothead, and she doesn’t bother to hide her emotions at all. She gets mad easily, doesn’t forget easily, and can hold a grudge for a long time. Oh yeah, you definitely don’t want to get on her bad side. If you do, lots of flowers, apologies, and groveling would be a good idea. Though, be her friend and she’ll love you forever. She’s fiercely loyal to those she considers a friend, and she’s willing to go to hell and back for those closest to her.
Though Lillith likes her ‘me time’ just like anyone else, she tries to have a happy balance of me time and people time. Girls night out every Friday night is awesome, as is just hanging out with her friends. She loves nature and being outside… though, she could seriously do without the bugs. And the bees. You should see her freak out when there’s a bee nearby.
Otherwise? She’s a total bookworm. Couldn’t live without her books, and it’s sacrilege to burn, rip, or otherwise destroy a perfectly good book. One of her downfalls though is time – she tends to lose track of time easily, and tends to run late. Cut a girl some slack, it’s usually due to a book.
Probably the thing that gets her teased the most is her tendency to use childhood terms for cusswords. Being raised not to curse meant she found other words for them - crap was fudge-buckets, ass was petunia, shit was daisies, fuck was frog, and damn was crab-apples. Ever since high school she’s been trying to break the habit, but it comes back at times. Though “Frog you, kiss my petunia” just doesn’t sound the same as “Fuck you, kiss my ass.”
As for what she thinks about the last couple months? She’s definitely against the fae who would want to kill humans or who think fae are better… but as for the fae who are just here because their world is dying? Honestly, she thinks they should be allowed to live here. It’s no one’s fault except the rogue fae, so why should the innocent be punished? Allowing citizenship would be a good start, and maybe setting aside land somewhere for the fae to make their own.
Goals: - finding Mr Right - completely breaking her curse-words habit - seeing her bookstore become successful (and not be burned down by the yahoos running around lately) Likes: - books - chocolate - rain - thunderstorms - being her own employer Dislikes: - users, abusers, liars, and cheaters - guys who think they can pick her up for a one-nighter - soda - fae who want to kill humans - wearing heels - customers sometimes Strengths: - giving people the silent treatment - getting even - letting people use her as an ear to complain to Weaknesses: - being patient - being on time - not controlling her temper Fears: - bees - other creepycrawlies - something will happen to her bookstore and she’ll be out of a job - anything happening to her parents
Family
Parents: - Lissa Morgan - Billy Connelly (birth father, non existent) - John Morgan (step-father) Siblings: none Other family: unknown on her birth father’s side, dead on her mother’s side, and step-grandparents on her step-father’s side Economic status: lower-end middle
History:
Lillith was born the first and only child to her parents. They weren’t rich by any means, but combined they made enough for a comfortable lifestyle. No, she never got the high-tech gadgets for babies that cost lots of money, but she had toys to play with. From an early age Lillith was put into daycare, and it was there that she first learned her love of reading. The arts were boring to her, the toys usually broke or being played with… but the pile of books usually remained untouched.
When she was five, her parents divorced. From what she’s heard from her mom it was a good thing – by all accounts her father was a lazy bastard. She can’t say – she doesn’t remember the man at all. But two years later her mother moved to Washington DC and remarried a man in the IT industry who made a decent amount of money, and her step-father is the man she calls Dad.
Her childhood years were otherwise rather normal and boring. School was decent, she made friends with some of the neighborhood children, she got into fights when they teased her for reading. There was no indication that in just a few short years Lillith would be getting some interesting abilities… neither her mother or step-father were fae-blooded. The best they can figure is her sperm donor (that’s all she thinks of him as at this point, since he never stepped foot back into her life past the divorce) had the Blood. But when Lillith hit 13, she got the shock of her life.
It wasn’t right at 13… maybe a couple of months after her birthday. One day at school she was arguing with a boy over something stupid, and as stalked out of the classroom she wished that she could slam the door on him. And it did. She got in trouble for it, and it took some convincing for her parents to believe she hadn’t really done anything.
At first she hadn't believed she'd done it either, but over the next week there were more incidents of things moving without her doing anything. Honestly, she couldn't believe it. This was supposed to be the thing of fantasy - x men and the like. So how could she be able to move things just by thinking about it?
She showed her parents, who were just as shocked. From there her parents tried researching special abilities, and after weeding away all the fiction they came across an obscure listing for an after-school tutor who mentioned that she tutored in “special gifts.” And indeed, the woman ran a small after-school mentorship for the fae-blooded. She explained a little bit about what was going on, and also directed Lillith and her family to the local chapter of a group that provided support for the fae-blooded.
So Lillith learned to control her telekinesis, her family learned about the history… But otherwise Lillith continued to have normal teenage years. The summer before her senior year of high school her father got an offer to work overseas, in Dublin. The company he worked for was moving their headquarters there, and he was more than welcome to either move with them or be relocated to a smaller branch that would be left in DC.
Lillith was vocally against it. Her friends, her roots where here in DC, and how was she going to keep in contact with them from another country? Plus, starting over in a totally new country for schooling? That was going to be a pain. But much to her annoyance, her vote didn’t count, and her family moved in time for her to start the school year in Dublin.
At first she hated it there – the climate was different, she didn’t know anyone, and their accents were hard to understand sometimes. But over the next year she began to make new friends, who showed her Ireland was just as awesome as DC had been. Her favorite weekend activities began to be exploring the old castle ruins outside of the city, and taking hikes around the countryside. Though… there was one time in the mountains that she got into a bind, having ignored the dragon shifter’s warning signs to stay away.
It was then that she decided she wanted to open her own bookstore one day. During college she took jobs that helped build up her savings account – she was going to need enough to get a bookstore off the ground. First was a bartending job. It paid good money, but the drunks and assholes annoyed her. The sheer amount of bad pickup lines by the time she quit astounded her.
Her second job when she was 22 was an assistant to an old woman who ran a small used-book store in the city. She got lucky with that job – the woman’s son was a co-worker with her father, and her father found out that the woman could use an extra hand.
Two years later Lillith was just graduating college with a bachelors in business, and it was at that point the woman told Lillith that she was retiring, and would be transferring ownership to Lillith. That was, if she wanted the store. Which of course she did – it was more than she could have ever hoped for when she’d taken the job.
In the half a year that she had the store, she’d changed the hours to be open longer, open on Saturdays as well, and hired a few college students to help her out. The store was small enough that at busy times you only needed 2 people, with one person during the slowest hours, so she had the four on rotating shifts to work weekdays and Saturday.
And then the world changed overnight. In the first week of fighting she spent her time switching between hiding out and babysitting her store to make sure no one destroyed it. After that she convinced one of the light fae hanging around to put some protective magics on it. (She refuses to call it anything other than magic… the idea of song was just so odd…) It was a month before she opened her store again, and since then she’s kept a careful eye on it. She’s down an assistant, and at some point she needs to find another. But otherwise? She’s not a fighter, and she’s actually pretty vocal on that the fae should be allowed to live here with full rights.
Anything else? the curse-words thing came from a book series…. I’ve wanted to try it out with a character for a while. xD
